AFP puts on friendlier online face

In its continued battle to win positive public opinion, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is putting on a friendlier face in yet another battleground: the Internet.
The AFP revamped its website (www.afp.mil.ph) this week in an attempt to appear friendlier to civilian visitors, even implementing tools that allow the user to customize his or her surfing experience.
News updates are posted on the site, each indicating how many "hits" each item has received.
Also included on the site are feeds from its Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/armedforcesofthephilippines) and Twitter accounts (http://twitter.com/TeamAFP).
The site had 3,125 visitors as of 8:25 p.m. Friday. Its Facebook page had 8,169 likes while its Twitter account had 1,704 followers.
Other sections in the site include corners for pension, bids and awards, budgets, AFP modernization, and news from its major divisions - Army, Air Force, and Navy.
Recruitment and human rights office sections were also seen at the home page.
Visitors can also access the AFP's radio station dwDD (1134 khz).
A drop-down "User Tools" menu at the upper right corner allows users to change the site's layout and color.
