Lindsay Lohan Copies Pippa Middleton at Kardashian Wedding

LiLo pulled a Pippa -- or tried to, anyway.
With her mom Dina and sister Ali at her side, Lindsay Lohan was among the bevy of celebrity guests at Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' Saturday wedding in Montecito, Calif.

And the drama-prone 25-year-old star took a fashion cue from none other than Pippa Middleton.
Lohan wore the exact same Temperley gown donned by Pippa, 27, for the evening reception for the royal wedding of her sister Kate and Prince William.
Pippa stunned the world in the Arabia gown, a floor-length satin dress with crystal panel in a striking shade of green. In keeping with the Kardashian wedding's black-and-white theme, Lohan wore the iconic dress in white; she wore her dyed-blonde locks up in a bun.

Joining Lohan for the huge, costly bash: Eva Longoria and Eduardo Cruz, Ciara, La La and Carmelo Anthony, Scotty Pippen, Mario Lopez, Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne, Serena and Venus Williams, Vera Wang, Brittny and Lisa Gastineau, David Spade, George Lopez, Robin Antin, Mel B, Lara Spencer, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, Cheryl Burke, Mark Ballas, Irving and Shelly Azoff and Joe Francis.

Kim Kardashian's Wedding: The Aftermath

Now that the dust has settled after what's been dubbed America's answer to the Royal Wedding (a depressing designation in that it's probably accurate), here are the stories that have generated the most buzz coming out of the weekend.

-- Kim's dresses. Kim wore a total of three dresses during the evening. Why? Who knows? Frankly, we're kind of surprised she only wore three. The Vera Wang dress that she wore down the aisle -- parts of which are visible in this video from E! News -- was accessorized with a diamond headpiece. Quoth an unnamed source to Us Weekly: "She looked very Armenian, like an Armenian princess."

-- The unusual dress code. Kim mandated that all guests wear either black or white to the wedding, which meant she opened herself up to the possibility of getting "Pippa'd" by other famous females in attendance. And while the jury is still out as to whether or not Kim was actually upstaged (we're waiting for higher quality pictures to make our judgement), bridesmaids/sisters Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie all wore white, as did wedding guest Lindsay Lohan. Lohan even took the inspired step of wearing a white version of the infamous green dress Pippa wore at the Royal Wedding evening reception.

-- The cake. The cake was insane. At six feet, it was taller than Kim by about a foot. And it cost $20,000. And no one actually ate it (they served a different cake to guests). This wedding!!
-- The noise complaints. One would have thought the Kardashians -- who seemed to have thought of everything in terms of this wedding -- would have made sure to check in with neighbors of the venue (or at the very least, send them one of Kim's perfumes as a gift or something). But it seems the neighbors were none too pleased about the massive wedding, making noise complaints and resulting in the dance floor being shut down early.

The Michael Jackson tribute concert is set to be broadcast live at venues across America.
The late King of Pop’s mother Katherine and siblings La Toya, Tito, Jackie and Marlon recently announced their plans to hold a star-studded show in the UK later this year. To ensure Jackson’s fans in America don’t miss out, event organisers Global Live want to stream the show at several “major arenas” in the US. “A rep for Global Live - the company behind the event - who tells us producers are working with several major US venues in the hopes of broadcasting the event on jumbotrons to give audiences the concert experience without having to go all the way to Wales,” reports TMZ.
Global Live are reportedly “actively” trying to secure a deal at the moment, but nothing has yet been finalised.
Some of the biggest names in the music industry are believed to have been invited to perform at the concert. Stars including Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Usher have all been approached. However, it has been reported Cee Lo is the only artist who has accepted the invite so far.
The show is scheduled to take place in Cardiff, Wales, on October 8.

Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis were seen being incredibly flirtatious in London this week, it has been reported.
Justin and Mila are in the British capital this week to promote their movie Friends With Benefits. The pair are both staying at the Dorchester Hotel, albeit in separate rooms, and have been seen getting cosy with each other around town.
On Wednesday night a couple of hours before midnight, Mila took a trip down to the hotel bar, The Promenade, where she began to perform some classic love songs. Justin greeted her just ten minutes later and belted out some Frank Sinatra tunes himself.

“Justin couldn’t take his eyes off Mila,” an onlooker told British newspaper The Mirror. “He was hanging on every word she said, and laughing a little too heartily at her jokes. But it was all very sweet.”

The pair then headed out together for some dinner. While enjoying dim sum in between giggles at China Tang restaurant, the pair could not help but stare at each other.
Justin and Mila have been travelling all around Europe together, promoting their new film.

It's official: 'Housewives' is facing final season

AP
By FRAZIER MOORE - AP Television Writer | AP
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — "The only harder thing than creating a hit show is knowing when to end it," said Marc Cherry as he looked ahead to the final year of "Desperate Housewives."As ABC made official that the hit series would end after its upcoming eighth season, its creator, Cherry, joined ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee to insist the decision had been made jointly. "I'm very aware that some shows overstay their welcome and I didn't want that to happen with 'Desperate Housewives,'" Cherry told reporters during a Sunday session of the Television Critics Association conference. "We wanted to go out in the classiest way possible." "Desperate Housewives," a glossy prime-time soap opera with an ensemble cast including Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria, made a pop-culture and ratings splash when it premiered in 2004 but has since seen a fall-off in the ratings and viewer buzz.Cherry said he and Lee began discussions a year ago about when the series should be shuttered. "We made this decision together," he said, "and I feel so good about it. We can have a whole year to reflect on how lucky we've been." "We want to make sure it has its victory lap," Lee said. Cherry said he had put out calls to all the show's cast members in recent days and spoken to about half of them. "It was bittersweet and lovely. There was a touch of shock, but not completely," Cherry said in describing the conversations, adding that he and the stars shared a feeling of gratitude for the experience of doing the series. While dismissing the possibility of a "Housewives" spinoff, he mentioned other projects, including "Hallelujah," a pilot ABC passed on this season but that's being re-worked. But he joked that something simple and quick as a future series might be a nice change. "Maybe two guys in a prison cell," Cherry proposed with a laugh. "I need something easier than 'Desperate Housewives.'"
In a separate announcement, ABC said the celebrity cast for the new season of "Dancing with the Stars" will be unveiled live on Aug. 29 during ABC's airing of "Bachelor Pad." The dancing competition returns for its 13th round on Sept. 19.

Anne Hathaway’s First ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Photo Continues to Make Us Wonder If She’ll Be Catwoman

By Tim Grierson | The Projector

Ever since Anne Hathaway was announced back in January as part of the cast for "The Dark Knight Rises," no one in the Batman camp has confirmed that she's officially going to be Catwoman, even though everyone just assumes that she is. All you'll get out of Warner Bros. is that she'll play Selina Kyle, which is the name of the character who becomes Catwoman. Still, director Christopher Nolan remain coy about the full nature of Hathaway's character in the final installment of his Batman trilogy. The first official Hathaway image released today does nothing to clear up that mystery.

The still sent out by Warner Bros. shows Hathaway riding a motorcycle that looks a lot like the one Batman used in that fantastic chase sequence in the middle of "The Dark Knight." But she definitely doesn't look like the Catwomen we came to expect from Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry. If anything, with her high-tech glasses it seems that Hathaway is part of some virtual-reality Batman movie.
Does this mean her character won't turn into Catwoman by the end of "The Dark Knight Rises"? It's impossible to say. But the fact that this photo was sent out by the studio with the file name Selina Kyle indicates that they want us to forget about the possibility that she might become Catwoman. This secrecy may annoy others, but, frankly, we're fine having it that way. This movie comes out in just under a year, and we know full well that everyone on the planet is going to try to squeeze every little secret out of this movie before then. But isn't it more fun not knowing?

Andy Serkis: The Biggest Movie Star You Haven’t Seen

Andy Serkis has had leading roles in mega-blockbusters that have earned over $2.5 billion worldwide.  He's the main character in a major movie opening this weekend, and this winter he'll appear in a new 3D adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg.  And yet, odds are good that if you bumped into him on the street you'd have no idea he was a movie star.  Because usually you never see his face.
Serkis is one of the preeminent actors in the field of "performance capture."  That's the process where an actor's movements are recorded in three dimensions and used to create the animation of a fully digital character.  Serkis broke new ground when he portrayed the computer-generated Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" films, and he is taking the form to another level in the new film "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."

A native of London, Andy Serkis started his acting career on the stage.  He appeared on British television throughout the 1990s, and scored the occasional film role like in Mike Leigh's Oscar-winning "Topsy-Turvy."  But his career took off in a new and unexpected direction when Peter Jackson cast him in his "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Gollum
Photo: New Line Cinema
Serkis was originally hired for just a three-week job providing the voice of the animated Gollum.  That turned into a five-year long endeavor, as Serkis actually created the character's movement and expressions.  To make it work, Serkis would be on set in costume to act out every scene with costars Elijah Wood and Sean Astin. Then the other actors would shoot the scene without Serkis to give a clean background where the animation could later be layered.  Later, Serkis would recreate his performance on a separate motion capture stage wearing a suit covered with reflective dots that infrared cameras would turn into a 3D "puppet" in the computer. See Gollum in a scene from 'The Two Towers' >>
By using a talented actor as the basis for a digital creation, "The Lord of the Rings" revolutionized how CG characters could be used on film.  Serkis gave such a layered, moving performance many critics argued that Oscar rules should be amended to allow acting nominations for digital characters.  Serkis's face wasn't entirely absent from the trilogy, though.  He did appear on camera briefly in the opening of the third film as Smeagol, the same character before he was driven mad by the power of the ring.

Photo: Universal Pictures
Serkis reunited with Peter Jackson in 2005 to play another performance capture role, the 25-foot tall title character in "King Kong."  To prepare, Serkis studied gorillas in captivity at the London zoo, and then also visited Rwanda to see the animals up close in the wild.  For filming scenes between the giant gorilla and Naomi Watts, Serkis stood on scaffolding so that Watts would have eyes to connect with, and his voice was electronically altered so he could create Kong's booming sounds live on set. Watch the trailer for 'King Kong' >>
Since his success in Peter Jackson's films, Serkis has been seen in several live-action films.  He played Tesla's assistant in Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige," and he was nominated for a Golden Globe for the HBO movie "Longford."  But this weekend he's back as the lead -- and entirely CG -- character as Caesar the chimpanzee in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."  Unlike the earlier "Planet of the Apes" movies, all the simians in this were all created in the computer, not with makeup.
With advancements in performance capture technology, Serkis no longer has to redo his performance on a bare soundstage away from the other actors.  For the first time, WETA Digital -- the same effects company that created Gollum, Kong, and the aliens of "Avatar" -- could record Serkis's work on an exterior location outside of a studio.  Serkis was able to film scenes with stars James Franco and Freida Pinto while wearing a suit that tracked his movements, and he wore special headgear with a camera pointed at his face to register every subtle twitch and map it onto the digital chimp.  Then in the computer, Serkis was erased from the shots and Caesar was put in his place.

Serkis isn't done with performance capture.  In December, he'll play Captain Haddock in Steven Spielberg's all-CGI film "The Adventures of Tintin," based on the internationally popular comic books.  And his career will come around full circle as he reprises the role of Gollum in Peter Jackson's two-movie adaptation of "The Hobbit," coming in 2012 and '13.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" opens in theaters on Friday.

PHOTOS: Kate Middleton Has A Wardrobe Malfunction!

by Verena von Pfetten

Aw, man. While we spent the morning perusing pics of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s last day in Canada, our first go round missed the fact that Catherine had a very easy, breezy skirt mishap, in which herJenny Packham dress blew up and the entirety of the press pool got a few not quite x-rated pics of her bare bottom.
We’d feel kinda bad about posting these, except, well, she still looks so darn good! If that had been us, we’d have fallen to the floor in shame (kind of like a less glamorous version of this) and probably been wearingSpanx.

At Least She's Not Wearing Spanx?

Pippa Middleton: Queen of the Booty!

by Free Britney

Her royal hotness. Lord of the arse-tocracy. Queen of the booty.
She may be a commoner and not a Duchess like sister Kate, but ever since April, Pippa Middleton has become the style princess of the UK and beyond.
Thanks to a form-fitting Alexander McQueen maid-of-honor gown, Pippa's captivated couture critics, workout fanatics and plastic surgery lovers alike.

Pippa Middleton BootyPretty Pippa

“The latest craze here in the U.S. and across the world is to get the ‘Pippa Butt Lift,’” Miami-based celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta said.
Whether women go the surgical route or not, “Once the breasts reigned supreme, now it's the buttocks that are considered the best asset,” he adds.
The giant badonkadonk is also out.
While it was once trendy to boost a booty to mimic Kim Kardashian, “booty calls” for those two have been bumped for something Pippa-esque.
Mendieta explains:
“The buttocks has been an increasing and escalating interest over the last 4-5 years, but the iconic figure was Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian."
"Both have tremendous curves and large buttocks. While lots of people love their overall shape, many felt those derrieres were just a bit too big.”
“But ever since the royal wedding, Pippa Middleton has become the new queen of the booty! She opens the doors to those who did not know you could have this small, shapely and perky backside without the large size."
There are also entire websites and blogs now dedicated to the younger Middleton’s posterior, not to mention appreciation pages on Facebook.
Photographer Alison Jackson told the Daily Mail that she is working to create a Web series called, "How To Create The Perfect Pippa Bottom.”
On the fitness front, Pippa’s Pilates instructor Margot Campbell has inked a book deal to detail just how one shapes up like her famous client.
But it’s not just Middleton’s bottom half that has folks talking.
“I am definitely seeing a rise in Pippa-like features,” Constantino said. “People want their clothes and body to look sexy, elegant and petite overall.”

Pippa Middleton: Stylish, Corporate

Crazy as it sounds in an era where people like Kim Kardashian become famous for no reason, then make a living off being famous, Pippa Middleton has a real job.
The 27-year-old sister of Kate Middleton works 2-3 days a week for her parents' event planning company Party Pieces, serving as editor of The Party Times.
Here, she's seen in her dark sunglasses as she began her workweek in London, looking professional in a dark outfit with a leather attaché case:

Pippa Goes to Work

Pippa also works part-time in an event management role with Table Talk, a company based in London that organizes corporate events and parties.
In the August edition of Tatler, writer Annabel Rivkin examines the hoopla surrounding Pippa Middleton following Kate's April 29 royal wedding:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that, post-Diana, we need to respect the Duchess of Cambridge's personal space. But it appears to be open season on her sister - will she blossom or buckle under the pressure?"
Blossom, it appears. Early and often.

US remake of "Prime Suspect" gets British blessing

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Producers of the U.S. remake of award-winning British crime drama "Prime Suspect" said on Monday the new series was lighter and with more humor than the original, but that it had won the blessing of both its creator and star Helen Mirren.
Maria Bello stars as the tough homicide detective who fights crime on the streets of New York, as well as sexism in the police force in the series, which gets its debut on NBC in September.
The admired British miniseries, starring Mirren, was first made in the 1990s, and broke new ground in television with its grim portrayal of ambitious, smart, female detective Jane Tennison, whose private life is a wreck.
Executive producer and writer Alexandra Cunningham said the U.S. version would focus less on outright sexism and would have less of the dark edge that marked the original version.
"There is so much great stuff there that we want to use as touchstones to make our own show great. But we also want fans of original to be able to tune in and enjoy it on its own level," Cunningham told television reporters.
Bello said she had not studied Mirren's performance while preparing for her role as the rude, abrupt and occasionally reckless Jane Timoney.
"I had seen it some years ago and remembered it a bit (as) being really dark. But when I read the script it was such a different show...because of the humour and because of it being modernized and set in New York city, so I haven't gone back to watch it," the actress said.
But the U.S. producers said that British writer Lynda LaPlante had written to them giving her seal of approval for the updated concept.
"She (LaPlante) couldn't be happier that Maria is shouldering the character...She is happy it is being modernized, and there's nobody better to do it than Maria. And Maria reminds people of Helen Mirren in her strength and her complete lack of vanity," Cunningham said.
Oscar-winner Mirren, asked at an industry party in March, also said she was delighted at the choice of Bello, Cunningham said.
"Prime Suspect" is one of the most anticipated new dramas on U.S. television in the new season which starts in September.
